Instructional Designer

Function:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for instructional design and course development efforts to ensure consistency and quality across all courses.

Responsibilities:

· Assist faculty with instructional design and course development to ensure design consistency among all courses.

· Assist faculty with third party tools in course development and install to ensure design consistency among all courses.

· Provide technical and administrative support for LMS Administrator and additional IDLS staff.

· Perform routine tasks related to maintenance and management of LMS as assigned (i.e. updating templates, posting campus-wide announcements in Canvas dashboard, working with Institutional Research to ensure proper deployment of end of course surveys).

· Develop and maintain specific courses, including the Faculty Orientation and Training, and New Student Orientation courses.

· Provide faculty development on various topics related to instructional design and educational technology as appropriate.

· Special projects as assigned (i.e. CAMS/Canvas NTS integration project).

Qualifications (Minimum):

· Five years’ experience problem solving issues within learning management systems.

· Five years’ experience in instructional design and course development at the college/university level.

· Demonstrable evidence of instructional design expertise, including implementation of third party tools.

· Experience as an instructor/faculty training in higher education using an LMS platform.

· Familiarity with instructional design principles and Section 508 Accessibility standards.

· Demonstrable experience of successful collaboration with faculty in roles ranging from instructional support to professional development.

Terms of Employment:

· Part-time, remote position.

· Non-exempt position, 10-20 hours/week.

Work is normally performed inside under normal office conditions and employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, humidly and moderate noise.

Work requires:

Keying data into computer repeatedly during an 8-hour shift. Ability to lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling a minimum of 30 lbs.

Reaching/handling of various equipment repeatedly during an 8-hour shift.
